Hot Glue Gun Certification

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and gloves while using the glue gun.

In case of a hot glue burn, flush immediately with cool water for at least 5 minutes while your partner informs the teacher.

The hot glue gun is NOT a toy. It should NOT be waved around or pointed at anyone.

I can use a glue gun and access it whenever I need to once I am certified and given authorization by the STAC Teacher.

Glue sticks for a glue gun can be retrieved from the storage cabinet at any time and whenever one needs.

Glue guns must only be used on the tables that have access to ceiling power or the counter top with the the wall outlets.

Glue guns are safe to use even if there are parts damaged to the unit.

Dollar Store glue guns are safe to bring to the STAC room and used.

Using too much glue can actually weaken a structure build.

Wait for the glue gun to warm up at least 5 minutes before testing the trigger (squeezing too early will cause pressure that forces a lot of glue to be wasted when it finally warms up).

Using a glue gun on the floor space of the STAC room is safe as long as you place a protective cardboard on the floor and you are close to a wall outlet.

Leave the hot glue gun unattended while the cord is plugged in.

Be aware that there is no on/off switch. When the tool is plugged in it is on. Always assume that it is hot and on at all times. Do not touch the tip of the glue gun.

It is ok to tap or flick excess glue off the tip of the glue melter and just leave it on the counter or work table to cool off. It is safe to touch the hot glue with your hands.

Do not jam items down the feeder end OTHER than more glue sticks.

Allow the melter to cool down 5 to 15 minutes before putting away at the STAC room Glue Gun Bin.

Put the glue gun back loosely in the cooling bin once it has cooled down.

You must clean up the work space after using the glue gun or risk having to be recertified.
